about

Some highlights, hopefully, of my long relationship with the "old, weird, America", from early days as a blues guitarist in the Hounslow Delta, through mountain banjo pickin' around the Hills of Fyvie, and more recently old-time fiddle playing in my current home town.

The tracks were all done at various times so I'm not sure there's an over-all 'feel' to things, but there you go. Several tracks are from a time when I was keen on playing to various percussion samples, and these may sound weird indeed to some ears. There's a Telecaster in there somewhere as well.

All recordings were done at home, using a variety of bits and pieces, from a Minidisc recorder to an SG Indy. Apart from the percussion samples, I play all the instruments. I even made a couple of them.

With thanks to all the various old-timers black and white, Coralie Mills for the loan of the bass guitar, and of course my family for putting up with the 'racket' (quote).
